Counter & Bar Stools

Bar stools are some of the most-used seats in the home, so they need to be sturdy, comfortable and good-looking from across the room. Our designer collection includes upholstered counter stools with low backs, swivel bar stools, backless designs that tuck under the worktop, and statement stools in velvet, leather, oak and brass from Tommy Franks, Richmond Interiors, Uttermost, Keiichi and Élan & Co.

Counter stool or bar stool?

Measure from the floor to the underside of your worktop. For a standard kitchen island of around 90cm, choose a counter stool with a seat height of 60–66cm. For a bar-height counter of around 105cm, choose a bar stool with a seat height of 74–80cm. Allow roughly 25–30cm between the seat and the worktop, and 60cm of counter width per stool.

Most pieces here qualify for complimentary white-glove delivery on orders over £100: our two-person team brings your furniture to the room of your choice, assembles it and takes the packaging away. See also bar tables, drinks cabinets and pendant lights to hang over the island.

Bar stool FAQs

Are backless stools comfortable?

Backless stools are ideal for quick breakfasts and tuck neatly under the counter. For longer sitting, choose a stool with a back and a footrest.
